Off to Otok Brac - Island Brac

We get up very late this morning, miss breakfast again, pack our bags in the car and then it's time to head off.  Sleeping in is beautiful and not having to set the alarm clock has been excellent.  The buffet breakfasts at the hotel is a shame to miss out on but it doesn't really matter.

It's around 11.30am when we leave the hotel. We stop for a quick breakfast, some shopping and then we are on our way back to Split to catch the ferry to Brac.  We get to the Jadrolinija ferry terminal and miss the ferry by a minute. Next one leaving  in another 1 hour 45 minutes.

It is currently 35 degrees. Very, Very hot. It's 3.30pm and out ferry is due to leave at 4.45pm, and it is a 50 minute ride. Our ferry has arrived, we drive aboard, get settled and enjoy the ride. Can't wait to get to Brac.

Our ferry has arrived at Supertar, the ferry port on Brac closest to Split where we departed. We drive off, and head for Bol.  It is kaos when we drive off, people walking off at the same time and no allocated lanes for cars or pedestrians.  I suppose the car will always win but we would hate to have an altercation at the ferry terminals.

Get to Bol, find our hotel and are impressed with what we see. The hotel is impressive. You can see the pool from reception and then straight out to the beach. It is so beautiful. The beach is a stone throws away.

Up to reception we go, give our name - Sprajc, she takes her time, takes more time and then informs us that there is no reservation for us. Marjan and me just look at each other in silence. She advises she will look again. At this stage, we just wait. She checks again and still no luck.  She advises us that they are fully booked for the duration of our stay. They can help us out for one night, but that's it. We take the room as we need somewhere to sleep for the night. The lady (Bozenka) at reception was really lovely and did advise that she would see what she can do. She will try a few hotels for us and let us know in the morning. What more can we ask.

Up to our room we go. Not impressed at this stage, but what can we do. We try to relax, but this is not really working.  It is 7.30pm, so we decide to go off for dinner.  We walk along the water and straight to the first restaurant that we find. We sit down, order dinner and try and work out what we are going to do. Do we stay, or do we move on?

The view from our table at the resturant. How beautiful!!!!

We also get serenaded by the local band singing 'Dalmatinac sam .....'.

After dinner we go for a walk along the esplanade, up to the center. It is so beautiful here. The more we walk the more we enjoy it here. We decide that we want to stay. We need to find some accomadation for the rest of the week. We walk past a travel agency and enquire about accommodation, much to our disbelief, they have an apartment available right on the esplanade, looking over the beach, just up the road from Hotel Borak. The position is fantastic and the accommodation looks great, just a little on the pricey side. We have until 10am tomorrow morning to deside if we want the apartment.

We stroll a little more through the center, then sit along the water and have an ice-cream, while Emil has a little play on the rocks near the water.  The water looks more impressive at night becuase it is so clear and clean.  We are looking forward to this.

Just about to start heading back and the mini-train arrives, so we decide to catch this back to our hotel.

So back to our room we go. Emil straight to bed, while Marjan and I search the internet for other options. From what we can see all the hotels are booked, which doesn't surprise us, considering that this is peak session. So the decision is made for us, if Bozenka can't find another hotel with a room, the apartment it is.

Off to bed we go, not impressed, but so be it. We are not going to let this spoil our holiday and this beautiful destination.
